What is the difference between badder, budder, sugar and shatter?
They are the same class of extract in different textures. Shatter is stable and glassy, badder and budder are whipped into a soft, creamy consistency, and sugar has crystallized into a grainy, wet texture. Texture is mostly a product of terpene content and post-processing, not quality — potency and flavor depend far more on the input material than on how the extract sets up.
Which texture is easiest to work with?
Badder and budder are the friendliest. They scoop cleanly with a dab tool at room temperature and do not shatter into hard-to-handle shards. Sugar can be sticky and messy, and true shatter turns brittle when cold and gummy when warm. If you are new to concentrates, a badder or budder in a small glass jar is the least frustrating starting point.
How much should I dab at once?
Start with a portion about the size of a grain of rice. Concentrates in this category commonly test between sixty and eighty percent THC, so a small amount goes a long way and effects hit within a minute or two. Wait a full fifteen minutes before deciding whether you want more; most people find one modest dab does exactly what they wanted.
Can I use concentrate without a dab rig?
Yes. Concentrate-compatible vaporizers, electronic nectar collectors and portable dab pens all work, and many people add a small amount to a bowl or roll it into a joint for a stronger session. Do not put concentrate directly into a standard vape cartridge — those coils are built for thin oil and will clog or burn out immediately.
